Spelling Words for Dec. 13th - Dec. 17th

There will not be a spelling test next week.  I'm sure the students will be completely broken up about this, but with the holiday activities planned through the week, there won't be time for it on Friday.  Also, I'm fairly certain their focus will be on the coming holiday break and not on a spelling test.

The homework will be different for the time we are off.  The homework won't necessarily be assigned, just a suggestion for the students to complete.  The form sent home will explain everything in more detail, but students who complete the assignments given and turn it in by the Wednesday we return will receive 2 extra nickels for their bank.  Students will be taking that home on Friday the 17th.  Homework assigned for the coming week will include the regular reading log, math pages, and two stories to read and answer questions about.

Again, A HUGE THANK YOU for the donations!  The students will really enjoy making the items to take home, and of couse eat!  Also A HUGE THANK YOU to those of you who are willing to take the time out of your busy schedules to volunteer on the 16th.  This will help the managing of who needs to make what, and they need to do next.  Thank you again, and I look forward to seeing those who will be here.

Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you for all you do!

The students are continuing their "Christmas Around the World" book, as well as some holiday crafts.  They are also starting on their benchmark tests for the second quarter, including STAR Math and STAR Reading tests.  These new results will be sent home on the 17th, the last day of the semester.  Feel free to look over these results, and contact me after the holiday break with any questions and concerns.

The students went home yesterday with a pink piece of paper.  This is in regards to the coming week and our plans for holiday crafts and celebrations for the holiday break.  Please look this form over, and return it as soon as possible.  Mrs. Blackburn, Mrs. Holston, Mrs. McComish and I have quite a few plans in mind for the students to celebrate the holiday.  We are asking for donations for the items listed on the pink form, in order for the students to create items to take home.  Thank you in advance to those of you who sent in donations- they are GREATLY appreciated!  The students are already looking forward to creating their crafts.

As always, thank you for all you do!

Blue Ribbon ceremony

The ceremony was a complete success!  A huge thank you goes to you, the students' parents, for all of your support.  It's the end of the second quarter, and every single student has made progress in their academics and behavior.  I've seen such amazing work, wonderful manners, and friendships blossom these past few months- so it'll be great to watch the children continue to grow and succeed.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

What a week!

Wow, what a busy week, and we still have Friday!  The students met their pen pals from Bella Vista on Wednesday, started on their holiday book, and celebrate Blue Ribbon week with fun dress-ups.  Tomorrow is our ceremony on the field, starting at 9:00 AM.  We hope to see lots of parents there, and dressed in blue!  Some dignitaries from the state and local level will be there in support of our awesome recognition, who are set up to talk about PdS and their support for education.  We hope to see you there!

Due to such a busy day, the spelling test for the week has therefore been cancelled.  The students had A-MA-ZING behavior the entire week as well, so I saw fit to reward them by not having the test.

The students will be starting their second quarter benchmark testing next week.  They'll be tested on material covered through the quarter, as well as retesting their STAR Math and STAR reading.  By then, the holiday book should be completed, as well nearing the end of their American Revolution unit.  Their study guide is really coming along nicely, and they should be ready to top off the unit with a project to show knowledge.

Have a wonderful weekend!
