The students were also introduced to a new student, Jacob.  He comes to us from California.  Everyone made the day great for him, and gave him a great welcome by playing with him at recess and helping him find his way through the day.  I truly appreciate when the students step up their responsibilities on their own on days like today, especially since it was the first day back from a few days off.

The students are working on a book about how different countries celebrate December holidays.  They will be switching with the other second grade classes for about half an hour starting Wednesday to make the pages for the country each class will be discussing.  Afterwards, the students will return to class and we will review what they learned about the other countries.  Along with this book, the students will making various projects for the holiday season.

Something that is more exciting than the holiday book is the students' chance to meet their Pen Pals this week!  Their Bella Vista buddies will be coming on Wednesday to spend the morning with them.  We have several activities planned for the students to share together.  It should definietly be a fun day had by all!
