Veteran's Day letters

The students started making Veteran's Day letters today.  They're coming out really cute so far!  Each student made a "shirt" that will have their letter inside for a solider to read.  I'm planning on delivering them to a brigade at the fort next week.  The students learned about what Veteran's Day celebrates, and reviewed why the flag has 13 stripes and 50 stars.  Tomorrow, the students will draft their letters to go inside the cover, so they'll be ready to be finalized and perfected by Wednesday.

We have also drilled and practiced subtraction and money, so the students will be continuing adding and subtracting money through next week.  Through next week and the week after, we'll be discussing the meaning behind Thanksgiving and how life was living in the original colonies while governed by a king.  This will eventually lead into discussions about how life is different compared to then and now, and how much things have changed for the better.

In response to the "Funtime Friday" prize donations, I would like to say "Thank you, thank you!".  They are much appreciated by everyone.  Please continue send small items such as Happy Meal toys, $1.00 items, and party favors.  They are always loved by the students who earn and purchase on Fridays.

Along with this donation, I'm also asking for donations of hand sanitizer and tissues.  With the "sniffle and cough" season upon us, the sanitizer and tissues go quickly.  Please feel free to send these items in when possible, as they are much appreciated and used.

Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you for all you do!
